I found Legacy's introduction to Rosa's life through the themes of loneliness and madness in a pretty bleak reality most excellent and very involving.

The point in life that the she reaches in Convergence seems a major achievement when you know how Rosa's situation looked like some time earlier.

Haha well some of my favourite sci-fi films show dystopian, bleak landscapes... which I love to watch! So complements obviously come in many different forms :-P

Thanks for clearing that up, Dave. It has bugged me as well.

Now I just hope Rosa won't run out of money before a few more Blackwell games are made. Otherwise, with that recession thing going on the player might end up just helping the girl survive financially instead of solving mysteries.

Btw I just started playing Legacy and I'm loving the heavy, oppressive atmosphere. Also, it's very refreshing that each game has a different art style.

Thanks for the retrospective, HD! Regarding the whole where-does-Rosa-earn-money thing, there was a conversation in Legacy where Joey and Rosa talk about the money her parents and her aunt left her, which enable her to get by for long periods without needing a day job. I realize now that it was one of those conversations that you have to trigger at the right time, so many people miss it! Anyway, thanks again.

Also, it's worth adding that the reason Convergence was delayed was because of Emerald City Confidential coming along. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what happened (see their news dated December 3, 2008).

I still have to play this new Blackwell game, but I'm looking forward to it when I do!

As an aside: Wadjet Eye games (who also make the Blackwell series) have added Downfall to their list of "recommended games"!

Now, this is the only Blackwell game I played so far. And even without the background of previous episodes which, Martin tells me, add a lot of depth to the experience, it was a great joy to play. The most pleasure I got from being able to visit these spectacular New York locations. The part of the plot that goes into the city's history and personages is plain fascinating.
